San Francisco-based Kid Mudd hits the scene with his debut full length Now They Shut Us Down. Compiled from Sean Duncan’s earlier one-man-band EP Birds Will Move In and new, larger studio recordings; Now They Shut Us Down is a smooth mix of electro-pop and folksy acoustic twang. This is an easy adoption for fans of Bright Eyes, Death Cab for Cutie, or The Shins; but Kid Mud has a sound all his own.

At every turn, Now They Shut Us Down seems to throw something unexpected into the mix. Lead single “Federated” has a poppy, radio- friendly vibe with a mix of live instruments and a bleepy-bloopy bridge, the end credits to something smack in the middle of the album.

THE OCMD

For Now They Shut Us Down, he keeps his independent recording flair but takes it up a notch with a host of collaborators, backing vocals and full-fledged recording studio. The result is a set of richly layered, finely crafted indie rock songs.
