“This is the moment. This is It.” So says Michael Jackson at the beginning of his last great spectacle This Is It. Planned as his elaborate comeback concert tour, footage of the dress rehearsal at L.A.’s Staples Center has now become a feature-length theatrical release, already sold out in many parts of the world even though the film has yet to open.
This Is It the soundtrack is out now, and it follows the film track-by-track, through songs like Billie Jean, Beat It and Man In The Mirror.

The full movie wasn’t screened for critics, with only 12 minutes of footage available to the media before the interviews. But as director Ortega describes it, the film tries to blend backstage footage with the performance to give an inside glimpse of those last days at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
The scenes show the superstar working on his dance moves, figuring out choreography, practicing on stage and running the show. From the clips, there’s no question that Jackson was in charge. His physicality is vibrant: At one point, he dances with a troupe of top-notch hoofers and keeps up with all of them. There’s no indication of the infirmities that would ultimately take his life.
This Is It, the upcoming 110-minute film on pop-icon Michael Jackson, has received tremendous response in multiplexes across India with as much as 70-80 per cent of the tickets already sold for some of the initial shows.
This is It will hit the theatres across the world on October 28 for a limited period of two weeks. The film is being positioned as a rare, behind-the-scenes look at Jackson as a performer, his career and his preparation for his last concert that he could not complete.
