The “Metal God” himself puts out an unexpected winter-themed record and finds the harder edges of some familiar favorites. Though not technically a “Christmas” record, Winter Songs is inspired by the spirit of the holidays and is family-friendly so you can throw it on at your family get-together without offending Grandma.

METAL EXPRESS RADIO

First and foremost before any further discussion … if you’re a Metalhead or have a loved one who’s a Metalhead, and if either of you celebrate Christmas, make a note on your Holiday “to do list” right now to pick up or order a copy of this Halford 3 – Winter Songs release. You’ll be glad each holiday season for many years to come that you did …

ULTIMATE GUITAR

On his first solo album since 2002’s ‘Crucible’, and first new release since his reunion with Judas Priest in 2004, Rob Halford takes a surprising turn by releasing a Christmas album. The idea works quite well, thanks to Halfords careful selection of traditional Christmas songs that translate well to the metal genre, mixed in with a few original songs on the same subject. The Halford band is in top form, and the arrangements of traditionals are creative and solid, and the production is top notch. Also, no shortage of great guitar solos.
